1984 (September) - Gordon Childe Memorial Fund grant (Funding for research trip to Orkney Islands, Scotland) 

1985 (September) - Swan Hellenic Cruise Scholarship (Two week visit to Greece, Turkey, Soviet Union (Georgia, Russia and Ukraine), Romania and Bulgaria). 

1986 (July-August) - British Council medium term grant (Two months fieldwork in Bulgaria - Nicopolis-ad-Istrum project). 

1986 (October) - 1987 (September) - SERC (Science and Engineering Research Council) Quota Award (One year Master's degree funding for M.A. in Environmental Archaeology and Palaeoeconomy at the University of Sheffield). 

1988 (May-August) - British Council medium term grant (Four months research/fieldwork in Bulgaria (Nicopolis-ad-Istrum project). 

1989 (January-April) - Ancient India and Iran Trust fellowship (Four months fieldwork for British Archaeological Mission to Pakistan).

1997 (January) - present - University of York Studentship Grant (For three years DPhil. research degree in the Dept.'s of Archaeology and Biology, Univ. of York.). 

1998 (March)  - British Council (Abu Dhabi) and ERWDA (Environmental Research and Wildlife Development Agency, Abu Dhabi) - Grant to support fieldwork in the U.A.E. 

1998 (June)  - Graduate Studies Board, Department of Archaeology, University of York - grant to support attendance at the ICAZ (International Council of Archaeozoology) conference, University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. 

1999 (September) - Graduate Studies Training Board, Department of Biology, University of York – grant to support attendance at the ICAZ (International Council of Archaeozoology) Fish Remains Working Group Conference, Department of Anthropology, Hunter College, City University of New York, U.S.A. 

2000 (May) - British School of Archaeology in Iraq - grant to analyse the fish bones from the Kuwait/British Archaeological Expedition’s excavation at As-Sabiyah, Kuwait. 

2001 (April-June) - Gerald Averay Wainwright Near Eastern Archaeological Fund (Oriental Institute, University of Oxford) - grant to study the animal bones from Kush, Ras al-Khaimah, UAE.

2002 (May-September) - British Academy funding to complete the study of the animal bones from Kush, Ras al-Khaimah, UAE.

2003
- British Academy, grant to support attendance and participation in "The Transition to Late Antiquity" conference, held at the British Academy in London from May 15-18, 2003.

2005 (17 Nov) - The Abu Dhabi Islands Archaeological Survey (ADIAS) and the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) were selected as joint winners of the Environmental Achievement of the Year Award 2005. This is a GCC wide award given by Construction Week, the largest weekly magazine for the construction industry in the Middle East.

2005-2007
- A two year grant has been awarded for the project "Understanding Neolithic Coastal Communities in the Arabian Gulf - Modelling Ancient Fishing Practices and Palaeoenvironments by the examination of 7000 year old Sea Catfish Otoliths". The total grant award is 65,980 Kuwaiti Dinars (equivalent to 121,156 British Pounds). The grant has been awarded to research collaborator, Dr Mohsen Al-Husaini (Mariculture and Fisheries Dept., Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and is provided by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), the Kuwait Fund for Advancement of Science (KFAS), and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) in Kuwait.


2009 - Shaikh Mubarak Bin Mohammed Natural History Prize for 2008 from the Emirates Natural History Group - in recognition of services to archaeology of the United Arab Emirates.
